About the Foundation – What We Do

Motivation Behind the Work

Rikhi Thakral describes in his own words the motivation behind the In SEWA Foundation’s work in Indo-China and its unique approach to solving some of the world’s biggest challenges.

Children

Children are remarkably imaginative and resilient – but also heartbreakingly fragile and vulnerable. In SEWA works with communities to shelter and nurture children through innovative education, health and nutrition programs. Teaching the next generation and keeping them healthy are essential to tomorrow’s strong, vibrant societies.

Education

Education is the foundation of progress, but it is often interrupted by extreme poverty and lack of infrastructure. As a result, individuals and their communities often can’t reach their full potential. In SEWA works to bridge the access to education to children and the disadvantaged economic groups to help ensure a better future for all.

Water/Sanitation

Water is essential for life, good health and economic development – yet millions of people do not have access to clean water. In SEWA’s work fulfills the water needs of vulnerable populations: We provide clean drinking water to schools in the rural communities.

Disability

Individuals with physical and mental disabilities often struggle for visibility and a voice within their communities. In SEWA helps empower them to organize, address their common challenges and support them to face the challenges of life.

Emergencies

Life can change for millions of families in an instant: natural disasters can claim loved ones and cause extensive damage to homes. When the unthinkable happens, In-Sewa delivers rapid, lifesaving aid to hard-hit communities to enable them to stand on their feet again in the shortest possible time.

Food/Nutrition

In SEWA’s regular food programs concentrate on those who are most vulnerable — disadvantaged children. These programs ensure that the children get the basic nutrition and vitamins necessary for their growth and development.
